Good to know that we didn't lose them this year. Now lets hope for the best for Portland

I thought Portland was looking to move up into the area BTW? If so, they can't be happy about this move.

That's more than double the seats they were selling in San Jose.

Is that about the size of the arena in chicago? I know when the bus went down there we double the seats but the arena looked about that size right?

The Shamrox arena was a little bigger but not much. Maybe around 9500

It looks like there is an arena nearby that has quite a bit more capacity, so getting the smaller arena is a very good idea. A smaller arena will also give a much more personal feel to the game going experience, while they build numbers and as long as they don't get stuck in a situation with no headroom for growth. I'm hoping they will be the "Seattle Stealth", rather than the Everett something-er-rathers. Saves them rebranding and makes it seem less minor league.

Everett doesn't sound right... or they could be Washington ________

They will have a press conference this Thursday to announce the team name up in Everett.
Meanwhile,,,
The Titans are looking at either Newark or Orlando.
The LumberJax are not looking so good. The link to their website at NLL.com has been taken off, which is never a good thing.

I don't see how a team in Orlando would survive very long... Just doesn't seem to be a "lax hotbed" IMO...
HOWEVER, I'd be more than happy to head out to Orlando in January/February to watch a game (and hit all the amusement parks)!

The Titans are pretty much in Newark already. All they have to do is change their name.

I'm not sure how the lax community in FLA would take to going inside for the box version of lax during some of the nicest weather they have all year. I wonder if there is an outdoor or coverable facility that might host a FLA team? In there is not an imaginative solution. Any FLA city faces the challenge that Phoenix did.

Orlando is awfully far away from any of the other cities that teams are in as well. They'd have a difficult time shipping in players from Canada too I'd think.

Coupla points with this.
1) Minnesota wasn't exactly a lax hotbed 5 years ago and the Swarm seem to be doing okay. In fact, its only just starting to become what one might consider a hotbed, with baby-steps.
2) How the heck would we know if Florida was a hotbed? For that matter, how would we know that Colorado was a hotbed?
3) Lots of people from traditional hotbeds relocate to south Florida. The migration is so extensive that Florida isn't even close to being considered "southern" by southerners. Look at the religious demographics of Florida, versus surrounding states, to see what I mean. 30% drop in Protestants, 2x more Catholics, and 3x the number of Jews. Even the average IQ is atleast 6 points higher versus surrounding states.

Going off Google results (A total scientific analysys), there's about as much going on it Florida with lacrosse as there is here in Minnesota.
I do think the travel to Orlando would be ridiculous though. Any player from western Canada is likely NOT going to want to play there. Even for eastern players it's a long jaunt. Costs would suck.
Orlando does get decent attendance for their Basketball team, but as is obvious with a good number of towns (Portland), that definitely doesn't trasnlate into NLL attendance.
Plus, the person trying to "woo" a team there doesn't exactly have a good history with Lacrosse teams.
Seems to me there would be several other towns that would be better choices. KC is one with that brand new arena, they might be happy to have a team as a tenant.

I think a few players could put up with Disney World, alligators and warm winters, all of which are not in Minnesota or most teams during the NLL season .

They'd want to retire then though... that's what everybody moves down to Florida to do.
