• Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811-1896) Wrote "Uncle Tom's Cabin" which described slavery in the South

• 1985 TWA flight 847 (Athens to Rome) hijacked by Hezbollah which lasted two weeks when the hostages were released. A US Navy diver Robert Stethem was executed later on the 14th.
