Kevin Buchanan, Josh Funk, Ricky Pages and Andrew Watt have all re-signed for another year of Swarm

Kevin Buchanan returns to the Swarm after a very successful 2009 rookie season after being selected 11th in the 2008 Entry Draft out of The Ohio State. Buchanan made the 2009 All-NLL Rookie Team as he scored 22 goals and 23 assists in eleven games. He scored five goals against Toronto on February 27, which tied a Swarm single-game record. That weekend performance won him NLL rookie of the week that week. He is presently trying out for the United States team that will partake in the 2010 World Field Lacrosse Championships.

Josh Funk returns for this second season with the Swarm. Funk joined the team in January and made his NLL debut with the Swarm against Calgary on March 28. Funk scored three goals last year and presently has scored a goal in three straight games.

Ricky Pages was drafted in the fourth round by the Swarm in 2008 and spent the 2009 season on the practice roster. Pages played for the Long Island Lizards of the MLL this past summer and played in the MLL All-Star game.

Andrew Watt was the Swarm's first pick in the 2008 Draft taken eighth overall. Watt scored six goals and eleven assists in thirteen games in his debut season. Four of his goals were shorthanded which was tied for the NLL lead in 2009 with Calgary's Tracey Kelusky and set a Swarm single season record for shorthanded goals. Watt was named NLL rookie of the week for his performance against Portland on January 3, 2009.

Position Defenseman

Jay Winder comes to the Swarm from the Toronto Rock where in his rookie season of 2008, the lefthanded defenseman scored one goal, one assists and scooped up 38 loose balls in eleven games. Both his goal and assist in 2008 were scored against the Swarm on January 11, 2008. Winder started the 2009 with the Rock on injured reserve but was later released. Look for Winder to wear #20.

Plays for the Brooklin Redmen in the summer

Plays college ball at Brock where in 2007 he was on the Brock team that won the CUFLA championship.

It looks like the Swarm may be surrounding Zack Greer with some players he grew up playing with: All three of his boys have signed after the Swarm drafted Greer:

Heard today that another local boy from Whitby that I grew up playing with has signed with the Swarm and will be at camp. That makes four of us trying out for the squad from my hometown so it’d be nice if we all can do out part. Jay Winder, Steve Hutchins and Alex Henderson are the boys.

Corporal,
Thanks for keeping us up to date with the player signings. With all the new player signings, it looks like there is going to be a lot of competition for starting positions.

Also, thank you for putting the hyphen in 're-sign'. Without that, the subject header has a completely different meaning.

No problem, it's my hobby like woodcarving, noodling, knitting, etc.

Old Goalie corrected me on my hyphens a couple years ago, so you can thank him. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

NLL.com had the story on the signings up on their site yesterday but took it down, but the press release on OurSportsCentral is still there. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Here is my depth chart

Wow, this camp is going to be insane. 36 guys fighting for 23 spots. If Croswell is out then 12 guys won't make the cut. Going to be interesting to see who makes it. If any of the newcomers step up, it'll be some long timers losing spots. I wonder if some of this overstock is going to lead to a big trade here before camp?

"We'd like to trade these 10 players for Dan Dawson. No, really."
